On the west coast of the good old U.S. of A. exists a sleepy little retirement community called Cabbagetown. Known for its pleasant weather and amazing reception, former professionals stressed out by their exhilarating jobs move there to forget their hassles and watch reruns of their favorite television programs on Netflix.

Or at least they did, before a trio of villagers fed up with the paralyzing influence of the telly on their town pledged to pick off their apathetic neighbors one by one.

Now, the people of Cabbagetown have no choice but to locate the murderers and execute them. Will the Cabbagetownites remain in their syndicated stupor? Or will the anarcho-luddites finally power down the telly monster? Stay tuned to find out.

SET-UP:

This game uses the Diffusion of Power set-up. The MafiaScum wiki can explain it better than I can.

A TL;DR explanation of the format is as follows: everyone except the three mafia goons are either docs or cops, but they can only use their power on one night, decided randomly before the start of the game. (The odds of two players getting the same night of activation and role are about 99%, incidentally.) The mafia is aware of how many cops and docs there are, but not who has what role and what night they can use it.

Voting will work as follows: if a majority is not reached prior to the end of the day, no lynch will occur by default. A "majority" for the purposes of this game will be defined as when over 50% of the players have their votes on a particular individual. For example, if there are 10 players alive, it will take 6 votes to lynch, not 5 (as that would make exactly 50% of the town in favor of a lynch, when more than 50% is needed for a lynch.)

As the program saluted not only them but the entire country, they felt it their patriotic duty to tune in every Monday and begin their week. Their enjoyment of the high quality program was rudely interrupted by a shrill screech which resonated through the village like a harmonic oscillator.

"HOLY FUCK, THE MAYOR'S BEEN EATEN!!"

The townsfolk turned off their tellies and traveled to the Town Square to determine the truth of the thunderous utterance.



Why yes indeed-- Voodoo Lady, the beloved Mayor, had been eaten. Her exsanguinated entrails were wrapped around the statue of Philo Farnsworth, and a note was nailed to her corpse.

Dear Cabbagetown,

Every day you stupid sheeple allow yourselves to be brainwashed by the boxes in your homes. The omnipresence of television in this community has reduced its inhabitants to mindless sheep incapable of living normal human existences. Case in point-- Voodoo here used to be a fearless politician who worked tirelessly for the welfare of her people. Now all she does is hole up in her office glued to her telly and watching reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She lived wanting to better the lives of everyone under her jurisdiction. She died reduced to tears by the implausibility of a fulfilling relationship between Zander Harris and Willow Rosenburg, head submerged in a carton of Cherry Garcia. What a waste of a life.

We fear it is too late for you, so we'll get around to brutally murdering all of you at midnight, one by one. In the meantime, enjoy your syndicated television, morons.

The crowd remained silent, until eventually a voice rang out from the crowd.

"The fuckers didn't spell Xander's name right!"

The outraged townsfolk began shouting orders of increasing incoherence, culminating in the conjuring of a smattering of execution tools. The people of Cabbagetown were going to avenge Xander, no matter what it took.

The angered townsfolk held a Survivor-style ballot to see who they would put to the gallows. The majority of the votes were for ZZZX, partially due to his cryptic manner and partially because his name was the easiest to spell. Saki quickly knocked ZZZX out with his official Law and Order: Special Victims Unit brand gavel and tied him up in the noose they had assembled in the town square a couple days before.



A quick search of ZZZX's flat revealed nothing other than a stack of first aid kits full of taped episodes of Doctor Who. No murder weapons, no wild hounds, no steak sauce... just lots of unused medical equipment.

The crowd's fervor disintegrated, and the embarrassed townsfolk returned to their homes and/or lairs of evil.

ZZZX was lynched. He was a Town Doctor.

Night lasts a bit over 48 hours-- until midnight-ish Tuesday. All night actions must be submitted within that timeframe.

DCLXVI was watching Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt in his bedroom when he heard a knock at his door. He got up to find a trio of individuals carrying scythes and black hoods.

"Excuse me, misters, what are you doing up at this hour?"

The central figure removed their hood to reveal the face of one of DCLXVI's neighbors. They raised their scythe.

"Bringing you to hell."

As the day drew to a close, the townsfolk grew increasingly suspicious of the mysterious "Titus" lady. She never showed her face, and she was nine feet tall (three feet seven inches taller than the average American woman). Naturally, as the day drew to a close, she became the center of attention-- partially due to her suspicious worldview and partially because she was just so damn tall.

Mnemonicdevice expressed his doubts. Could they even fit someone that tall into a noose?

Paschendale answered the question in the affirmative with a crowbar. To everyone's surprise, two small children popped out of Titus's hung up trench coat.



Yes, it was true-- Titus had been eaten alive by a trio of

enfantes terrible,

who had then committed various murders and Netflix subscription cancellations by masquerading as the late accountant. Paschendale conjured a considerable quantity of crowbars and passed them out to the rest of the town, who then acted out the climactic final scene of an episode of Highlander.

N64Lord phoned the late Titus's mother to break the news.

"My daughter has been eaten by three small boys? Impossible. I don't have a daughter! Wait, what did you say her name was?"

N64Lord repeated the fallen citizen's name.

"Oh, now I get it. Looks like you've been punked! You see, my triplets wanted to get into a showing of an R-rated movie, so they all got into a trench coat and pretended to be a woman named Elspeth Titties. Unfortunately, at the screening of 'The Fast and the Forty-ous,' a murder broke out! My boys discovered the culprit in two minutes, attracting the attention of a senior officer in the audience. They were immediately enlisted in the police force, but on their application form they misspelled their name as 'Lspif Titus.' Anyway, where are my boys now? And also, what's with those high-pitched squeals of pain in the background?"

N64Lord looked at the crowd of townies doing their best Duncan MacLeod impressions, turned back, and clicked the "End Call" button.

Titus was lynched. She was a Town Cop.

Night lasts approximately 48 hours. All night actions must be sent in before Tuesday morning.

The townsfolk awoke to find the bloodied corpse of Oriole lying in the town square. His bashed-in head reminded them of the short-lived musical drama television program "Smash" in that it was a cruel mockery of anything remotely related to good taste that was impossible to look away from. Also, his head was smashed in.

Oriole is dead. He was a Town Doctor.

The search was not a long one. NoctanNights slapped a bunch of official looking documents detailing Baezu's involvement in a stick-up at a radio station in the middle of the town, and within minutes she was in the gallows.



A search warrant provided by the LAPD let them enter her house, which was full of books on the negative influence of television, as well as a bird whistle belonging to Oriole.

Baezu has been lynched. She was a Mafia Goon.

D4 begins Tuesday afternoon. Forty-eight hours for night actions.

A lone wolf prowls the streets of Cabbagetown. Normally he'd be asleep, but he noticed a mysterious figure in a black cloak patrolling outside. He had immediately followed after it, magnifying glass and notebook in hand.

Eventually, he followed the mysterious figure into an alleyway. "A dead end," he thought. "I'll be able to apprehend this foul criminal now."

The figure shed their cloak in the darkness of the alleyway. The wolf came closer, trying to avoid detection by hiding in the shadows.

"I know you're there, you know." The figure turned around, instantaneously revealing their identity. "So, Muffin, you've found me out, eh? Well, we're alone now. Ask away."

"It's you," zMuffinMan snarled. "How'd you get away with it? Three consecutive murders ain't exactly easy to pull off, y'know."

"Sure, I'll tell you my methods." They then went on to reveal the dirty details of the anarcho-luddites' murder spree in a way that was both understandable and informative. "That good?"

"Quite." Muffin started scribbling in his notebook. "You sure all that's true?"

"Well... I told one tiny lie."

"Well, spit it out!" Muffin barked.

"We're not alone."

Muffin felt a pair of leathery hands wrap around his neck.
