i can already tell it's gonna be one of THOSE games.

I'm not much on setup speculation, but this game is almost assuredly balanced around negative utility and dayplay. ie, the caffeine addiction mechanic, the multitude of millers, the counterbalances, it all tells me that FakeGod probably intended to mitigate how much benefit both sides get from night actions. In fact, knowing what I know from my own role, and from what's been claimed / the ruleset, I'd say this setup actively PUNISHES town for relying on nightplay.

I'm good on calling Bingle town right now

I've never met Vecna but I like his style

I have some thoughts about the Miller neighborhood, but like... okay: Are you guys specifically millers? Or do you all have the miller modifier? See, the latter is important because if you have, say, X number of people in a neighborhood who have a miller modifier, the mod would simply say "Everyone in this neighborhood investigates guilty." Which would include people who are not millers and are simply mafia. If this is the case, and all of the millers were informed of that fact, it makes outting the millerhood way less useful in finding which ones are town. I guess I can elaborate if need be, but please don't fucking make me. I just woke up.

All jokes about 2012 aside, Pine's not gonna do shit unless we poke him.

There's a huge difference between "Everyone in this neighborhood will investigate as mafia" and "Everyone in this neighborhood is a miller."

There are other kinds of cop besides mafia / not mafia, especially in FakeGod games.

What I'm getting at is that Miller can be a role or a modifier, and the reason I was asking was because it's useful to know what all these millers have been told in their neighborhood and do you understand what I'm saying or do I have to dumb it down?

I'll give you an example: there's a huge difference between "everyone in this neighborhood is a Ninja" and "everyone in this neighborhood has the ninja modifier."

I asked about the modifier thing because I have a town role with a modifier (not miller) that is also shared by two other people in the neighborhood (Pine and Fish)

So you see there is a world of difference between "i am an informed miller who knows how many millers are in this game" and "I share a neighborhood with other people who are also modified millers."

And do you understand how annoyed I am that I had to spell that out? When you could have answered a simple question?

What about now tho? We have how many miller claims? Its a whole neighborhood

Okay let me walk you through the concept of SEQUENTIAL EVENTS

Sometimes, because time, at least as we experience it in our current dimension is basically a straight line. Now there's some gobbledegook about infinite dimensions and alternate timelines but what's important here is OUR timeline.

Now, when two players counterclaim Miller (that means they're saying don't investigate me I'll investigate as scum, you see. You may know this but I'm just making sure), one can assume that at least one is lying.

I think it goes without saying, unless you're a complete idiot, which I am not, that having FOUR millers claim not only to be millers, but to HAVE A MILLER MODIFIED WHEN YOU YOURSELF KNOW YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD HAS A MODIFIER is an entirely different thing from two people counterclaiming one another.

And this is where our previous subject, sequential time, comes in.

The post I made, that you quoted was BEFORE the miller-modified neighborhood was outed. Because time is a straight line, the me who made that comment cannot POSSIBLY know the things which are yet to come. And so that's also why LATER ME wanted to clarify if we have a ton of millers OR A BUNCH OF MILLER MODIFIED NEIGHBORS. These two things are nothing alike.

TDLR why the hell did you just ask me the stupidest thing anyone has ever asked me in my twelve years here?

AANNNND IGNORE
All I said in my last post referencing you is that you are lacking reads and real content. Actually thats wrong; that was all implied by the point of 'youre only arguing about setup spec and non sequiturs.'

I think its, taken without meta, scummy. Ive already asked people their opinion of your play from that meta perspective. I do not wish to engage.

If you don't wish to engage, you shoulda fucking thought about that before you baselessly accused me of being mean (I caught scum-Carl Tuckerson the last game I was in because he did the same shit), you misrepresented a number of my posts, as I've pointed out, and then when you summon me from hell, you're like oh no I'm backing off.

"I thought you were changing your ways," when I did absolutely nothing to you. MISREPRESENTATION.

"You're trying to intimidate me just for asking questions" MISREPRESENTATION

"You lack reads" MISREPRESENTATION when I have called several people town and tried to push Pine toward participating.

"He asked if scum can be millers" MISREPRESENTATION when I needed to know how millers would investigate so I could compare another player to someone I know I'd get a guilty on

So AGAIN, if fish monger wasn't just trying to do meaningless townie looking questioning at me, why did he ask about my scum meta when he himself has been scum with me, AND seen me as town in other games?

No. I'm pissed because I only ask for three god damn things on this site:

Don't accuse me of abusive behavior when I'm not exhibiting it, because if that's what you wanna see we can go down that road.

Don't bait me into getting pissed off and then cry about it when it happens.

Don't call my being pissed off fake because I don't fucking need to fake the rage. Lemme tell you a lil story. I used to be in an abusive marriage. It's true, I was depressed and suicidal, you can even go back to old PTs and games and see me discuss this. See, when I was with my ex-wife, she did everything she could to belittle or insult me, so you know what I did? I came here, and I treated people like garbage. This went on for years. My therapist told me my behavior here was some measure of regaining control and self worth for my shitty home life. Then I got divorced and wound up dating a girl for a few years who faked pregnancies, or do little shit to keep me jealous, even faked her dad's death. Throughout all that depression and suicidal misery, I was pretty pissed off at the world. Then around the time I stopped playing, I started getting healthier mentally. I started traveling, sleeping on the beach, I'm in a healthy relationship and so on. It isn't that the site was making me ill, but more that I had no need to scream at anyone anymore. Only problem is I don't know how to fucking play mafia without pouring the hate into the thread. That and plus I've been going through some shit the past month or so but it ain't nothing some time at the beach won't cure

My role PM also states that if I post more than once in the The Batcave in a night, my night action will fail, but this is not in the mod's OP either. Which barely affects me anyway, Pine's doing his lurk thing and Fishmonger is scum so i don't have a whole hell of a lot to say to either of them.

I AM assuming at least one of them must be scum because if there's a town tracker, a ninja modifier is a nice thing to have.

How the fuck do you have a miller that's a reflexive roleblocking vanillaizer

A roleblocking vanillaizer makes a miller modifier moot since no one can get an investigation result on them anyway

Good luck enforcing that with this player list.

Town has an abysmal win rate in mountainous. In fact, the mod of this very game himself mentioned that to me when I was running a setup by him a few days ago. Playing a likely role-madness game as mountainous would be dumb.

We are part of the abandoned warehouse neighborhood. We are informed here that everyone in the neighborhood investigates as mafia.

We also have an ability section, as everyone does, where for me, it lets me know I am a Vigilante. Also, I am told here, based on role, that I will come off as mafia to all investigations. This makes it twice that it shows up on my role pm.

Pops had the same thing.

Pelican talked about, and I’m paraphrasing, i don’t know word for word, but I’ll go back and quote, that he only has the “informed the entire neighborhood investigates as mafia” part. That is because, as mafia, he wouldn’t be told that he comes off as mafia to investigations because he IS mafia. It’s not part of his role, it’s his alignment. His role doesn’t cause him to be investigated as mafia. Pops and my role does because we are town, and ne’s Scum.

So to make this as clear as humanly possible, your PT does NOT state that everyone in the PT will investigate as mafia?

My thing is this.

I don't completely understand the Pelican "slip." Maybe my eyes have just glazed over in the last 58 pages, but that's where I am.

I also don't understand half the tells and half the in-jokes in this game.

I don't understand current setup meta, and so my brain just glazes over the speculations.

I don't even understand what the hell "pocketing" is.

I do understand counterclaims and softing.

I'm inclined to believe FL over Perry. Even if Perry is town (and I'm not leaning that way), I do believe Flavor Leaf is probably town and earnestly believes this case. And I do believe pops possibly believes it as town as well. I don't see FL + pops tag teaming Perry as scum buddies. I don't. It's too much risk and too little reward. I could see pops as scum helping FL tunnel on a town Perry, but I don't believe that's the case here. And if the scum is pops + Perry, pops doesn't need to bus Perry right now. But... pops isn't even voting Perry.

So pops, how much do you believe in Perry being scum?

Our clear cut is that we definitely do investigate as mafia because of our roles. It is our role. I understand exactly how it happened, and Pelican’s probably over it by this point, because it really is caught out on a technicality.
Still doesn't answer if this is because of the neighborhood. I don't know if I'm just not getting my point across or I'm just lost since no one else is curious about this.

That’s why it’s a slip.

We both know it’s our role that causes it, not the neighborhood granting a shroud of power turning us into that. It’s in our ability.

If i didn’t get vanilla’d and i was force switched into another neighborhood, I’d still be a vig who investigates as mafia.
It's not a slip. Someone could have just said no the hoods don't work that way. I'm trying not to be a drain and just give up but I'm kind of over defending why it's not. If I'm not lynched today I'm vigging you regardless.

Okay, so if you didn't slip, lemme ask you this:

If you think FL is lying, and FL is your direct counter-claim, and you plan on shooting Flavor Leaf or Pops...

why are you voting Kagami?

You haven't even bothered moving your vote to reflect what you seem to feel is possibly scum attacking you.

Or you think FL is town? And you're gonna shoot there N1 regardless?

Sooooo not buying it.

Here's my thing, even if you don't buy or understand the scumslip, look at Perry's reaction to the vig claim. Look at him saying he'll shoot ejther his direct counterclaim (FL) or pops, and look at him not voting either of them.

Since when do you not vote your counterclaim because "I can just shoot tonight?"

Hell, if they have a roleblocker, Perry could just use the scum NK to off FL and offer himself up as caught scum tomorrow. Scum for a vig isn't a bad deal.

Hell, you COULD be an advanced mafia-playing AI, or I COULD be dreaming all of this (god I hope my dreams are better than this)

But speaking as someone whose playstyle rests VERY heavily on gauging the emotional state of other players (and I'm quite good at it, if a little rusty), I don't think that's the case here. You don't need to believe me or my read (and I could GAF less tbh) but that's how I see it. I believe FL very genuinely believes the case against Pelican.

Could I be getting played? Sure. But it's day one, and what's done in the dark gets brought to the light eventually.

So you're good with Bingle's idea of letting the vigs "cross shoot?"

I'm legitimately confused about this lecture.

Like... Why can't my wagon pick up steam? We have three days left, I'm already full claimed, I'm not really around to defend myself other than spurts, and you and pops both SR me. Hell, Vec and Quis too, I think.

I mean it could but for someone who disagrees that the vigs should just cross kill he's sure unwilling to lynch one and therefore force them to "cross kill."

Let's put it a little more ELI5

There are two possible stances:

1. Lynch one of the vigs
2. Attempt the situation resolve itself

There is no middle ground and no possible way to avoid one or the other: any lynch other than 1 results in 2.

Gork voted you on the grounds he didn't like you "pushing" 2.

But he then goes on to move his vote, thus making 2 more likely.

It's not that it's a meaningless vote in general because your wagon can pick up steam, I'm saying it's a meaningless vote from someone who says they want to avoid the vig claims 1v1ing.

I've had no less than three people now, including one that I genuinely like, tell me what a toxic piece of shit I am every time I open my mouth

I've got seventy pages of a day one where half the shit is either mechanics, or meta between players with long histories, or just shitposting

I've had two players literally say they just wanted to egg me on, one of whom knows I'm trying to stay off thin ice with the admins

I fucking hate being town and games like this are why

There is no god damn reason for me to play mafia anymore, I don't enjoy it

And I've tried dude my god have I fuckin tried. I can't even question anybody these days without being called an asshole outta nowhere or having some fuck try to bait me into getting banned. It's fucking exhausting, do you understand, it's fucking tiring after twelve goddamn years the same bullshit game in and game out.

And yeah maybe I'm a little too fuckin sensitive, so what, that's a me problem not anyone else's for sure, but still one I keep in mind

And I fuckin knew man, I knew from the second FG messaged me and asked me to in I'd regret it, but I did it as a favor to him and because the player list looked interesting. What I shoulda done was ripped my nuts off and swallowed them, because it'd be a hell of a lot more fun than I'm having now

Seventy

Fucking

Pages

Of meta tells, of mechanics, of secret alts, of people baiting me or calling me a toxic person

So you're god damn right I'd rather get shot than have to deal with any of that.

Way to go town you didn't even try at endgame.

They literally didn't even lynch anyone at LyLo.

Like people got salty with me about being condescending but...

I just wanna be all "WHAT DO YOU THINK THE LO IN LYLO STANDS FOR AND WHY DOES IT IMPLY YOULL LOSE IF YOU FAIL TO LYNCH"

My reads weren't as bad as I thought
pops: I was townreading him, but ehhhhhhh. I'd go so far as to say I lean that one of pops/Marquis/Bingle is scum, but not all three and likely not two.
I have a shockingly high success rate when I narrow things down to X scum in Y grouping.

Once claims started trickling out, I knew as someone who has co-modded with Fakegod and consulted with him on setup design that he intended for dayplay to be the winning strategy and to set up high risk night play with disastrous consequences for recklessness.

Oh and who kept following counterwagon after counterwagon

And then suspected Pine despite him being the only surviving member of a neighborhood who already had one dead scum and in a game where people said stuff like "MY WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD IS TOWN WHEEEEEEE"
