When you’re asked the same question 3 times over, and you’ve given the answer to the person you plan to give, one tends to get annoyed. Plus expecting hard reads by page two is absolutely goofy in my eyes.

As for the pings, it’s a matter of considering role mindset, and wondering about the probability of those snips coming from town POV over scum POV. Regarding Chara, Scum don’t have to wonder about roles. They know the roles. So what’s the likelyhood of scum Chara saying what she said, and the way she said it (

unprovoked, and without a seemingly alterier motive

). In my eyes I’d expect a towny actively trying to sort ppl to say that over scum.

Now there is a possibility that she’s scum just making a joke, but that’s why we look for multiple reasons before really locking someone as town.

NL’s ping is me using the same system, but different reasoning/expectation.

you want to make it easier to figure out who scum is in a failed coalition by making all the players in it easy-to-read. so you're basically trying to make a long-term (ie not coalition-based) win easier since winning the game via coalition can be tricky since scum are incentivized to act townie (and if they don't they just lose!)

If we make a coalition of

easy to read people

, and we are wrong, then clearly the coalition doesn't contain easy to read people. If we use the coalition as a cop read by putting one bad egg in the mix, then we are going against our win condition.

What we need to do is introspect how scum with react with their incentives to be in the coalition, and keep an eye on who everyone is town-reading while making sure we all are doing our best to make accurate reads and checking one another along the way.

i thought the way he intially pushed back against no lunch after misreading the post was slightly +town in a generic sense since i feel like scum would have maybe read the post a bit better given that no lunch was proposing a plan that might adversely affect scum

I don’t really have a good reason other than I’d rather build a coalition of people I townread. I was shocked we could even vote ourselves, and kinda turned my nose up at it. I viewed it as someone voting for themselves to win a public choice competition, and I’ve never considered that a right thing to do personally, though I’m sure many would dissaggreee with me on that sentiment.

There might be a bit of ego also playing into it.

I think it might be smarter to hunt outside the townbloc first, as finding a scum there narrows the last scum down, which doesn’t work the other way around.

But I'm stuck between two worlds right now.

World A: I can't help but wonder if one scum has made the towny ploy by now. That scum I'd say would be within the more active members being Myself, Chara, NL, Elephant, and Skitter. I haven't really been looking for pairing possibilities, but I can't say anything glaring has stuck out to me. Until I do that, I'd say the likely possibility is that the other is within the middle to non active group. For whatever reason, I'm not really that afraid of both scum being in the most active group right now.

World B: Scum either don't know how to get into the towns favor with how loud NL, Chara, and Elephant make it....Or they simply haven't had time to devote to the game. Thus we all have been town bickering at one another left and right leading to the town eating itself alive. Gamma, Sky, Aslighttrain, My Milked Eek. being the lower active peeps.

I'm not sure I've townread anything Aubrey has posted so far (and there's a good amount of posts there, you'd think I would by now)
Others have said that they townread her making fun of the ridiculousness of my questions early on but I think most of those players semi-depended on a scumread of me to get there and I think it's common for scum to "lol you dumb town you" when they think town are being weird and don't want to get caught up in it

skitter townreads in general all kind of make me nervous. she could easily be town, but there's really nothing in that ISO that i would say scum skitter couldn't do.

Do you by chance get a sense of her flowing with the town? Like scum syncing up to the flow of the town?

I think this has been one of my deeper fears with her as I've been reading the game through my first pass. I haven't really iso'ed her to justify or negate that fear though.

Like, I don't recall her really being the first to say I like X or I don't like X on any of the reads...it always seemed once a few people were of a general consensus that it was safe to join the read unless specifically questioned.

here's a take because i'm bored of waiting for Sky's answer and i would rather just pressure it:
i think Sky is self-conscious scum and so neglected to put herself in her own coalition. she's townreading skitter for openly putting herself in her coalition to start because she thinks scum would maybe have that same self-consciousness about it, and this is because she had that feeling and she's scum. this is in spite of most other players also doing the same thing in their opening.
also skitter pointed out herself that she isn't being all that towny.
no lunch gets a pass because they mentioned that skitter is hard to read previously and also for being town.

But why only Skitter if that's the case? They could have used this on Gamma at first, but instead they brought up different reasoning.

Yeah. If he's not in the coalition I assume he's not a hard TR.

His entry was townie. He is probing and making enemies not friends. But it's not just that. The first thing I saw was the coalition count at the top of page 12, and Irrelephant has not one person including him in their coalition, yet he picked 3 aside from himself. He is not aligned with anyone. Scum will be pushing themselves to be included in most lists to ensure at least one of them is in it. Best strategy is to have one in and one out. So unless you're suggesting his partner is widely TR'd that they're almost guaranteed to be in the top 5 picks I'd say he is Town.

Btw, what was your read on my predecessor?

Well I did. I felt it, and I said it. What more are you wanting me to go into about it. I was mostly commenting on the activity of the questions and slight accusations flying through the air at the time.

My break is about to be over. Unless I'm forgetting I was the first to verbally mention town leaning Chara and explained that ping shortly after. The town-reads for her only snowballed from there. Since then she has remained seemingly genuine and conflicted at times without coming across as if she were leaving slots open to vote back up later.

I do not have the time, nor the drive to town-case her beyond me saying she has not done what i'd expect scum to do in this setup to get into a coalition. You, Skitter, and NL have to some degree. For this set up I expected scum to continuously lock horns with people in the attempt to hunt down scum in order to seem proactive. More interested in spreading dirt than looking for town incentive basically

(Remember my worry about you locking horns)

. A worry that could easily be put onto NL too. The other play I expected was a more lax play with decent activity, but flowing with the town's general reads

(Remember what I mentioned worrying about Skitter? a worry she could neither accept nor deny).

That's why I asked for her to bring up reads that she had come to a conclusion on first before others.

Unless Gamma and MME are a team then I doubt this will be a successful coalition. Sky would have to be really advocating to be in it at this point if she were teamed up with MME. Or she would have to be advocating against a slot in trade of Gamma.

There’s a few other things I learned as well to not much stock into moving forward. Gamma concered about his spot in the coalition should have been a big tell that I pushed aside for things I falsely thought were town inductive.
