I'm dumb and only understand that all 5 scum are vengeful and that people get pushed into neighborhoods based on who they wagoned and killed. In post 11, OkaPoka wrote:okay about the setup: obviously if we were perfect we'd figure out a way to create a list of townreads, congregate all the top townreads on each wagon and concentrate the powers such that the townreads are always on the wagon together but uh yeah hmm 17p all agreeing just isnt it so i guess what im saying is that president dannflor needs to charm us all into salvation and we just need to pray that dann rolled town
Why would we want this?-

I could be wrong because I'm a total and utter noob when it comes to set up.In post 14, LavarManos wrote:Why is this a challenging game?
But 5 scum being allowed to kill one player if they get eliminated with it being mountainous seems insanely difficult to beat.
We have no cop guilties and no power. True the scum team doesn't have a night kill, but they also get guaranteed kills and no ability to be punished for who they kill so they can kill the best town players 100% of the time.-

The game continues with kills decided within the neighborhoods (sequentially, from the earliest neighborhood to the latest) until one faction has achieved victory.
The sixth neighborhood would go last, but it's entirely possible to put one player in the 6th neighborhood and have them dictate all the kills for that neighborhood, I guess?
Or 2.-

So, should we distribute the votes such that only the towniest plays are on the wagon or something like that?
1(9 if we don’t artificially lower it)
2 (9) if we miss
3 (8)if we miss again
4 (8)
5 (7)
6(never on a wagon group) (?)
Funnily enough I never quite figured out the votes to eliminate is counted.
I assume it’s the majority. Rounded down. But I might be wrong.-

*looks at title*
Many students have asked me in class if I could share my notes. Because I seemed smart.
I then told them that my handwriting is an actual war crime and that anybody else in the universe would be better, perhaps even a monkey has neater handwriting and more organized composition. Also, what *is* smart? How do you quantify it?
I'm real fun to talk to. Though occasionally someone is happy they had a nice *deep* conversation on a topic that interested them. Most of the time though, I suspect I just exhausted hem.-

Fair enough, but usually I like to go in with a plan. It's absolutely true that scum sometimes speculate about mechanics instead of hunt, I'm doing both(I'm just not saying anything about it because they're vague initial impressions). but in this case I'm also trying to use this speculation as a means to evaluate other's responses too. It can be a tool to keep scum off balance especially if you can use mechanics to pressure scum into unoptimal moves. In post 75, Dannflor wrote:Sorry, I'm being snippy and rude
I'm just a little annoyed by the amount of mech talk in the pre-game, and how that seems like it'll be continuing quite a bit into Day 1. I'd rather people play like it's a normal game for a while and then if we have to, do the mech talk after we actually have some content on the board. It's very frustrating to try to get anything AI out of empty questions like "do we wanna try a strategy to improve our odds or is there not a way to do so?"
Because like 1. No duh we want to improve our odds within reason, and whether or not there is a way to do so will become evident as more people check in and give their thoughts
2. it becomes a mask for giving actual content about the game, stalls out RVS, and gives the appearance of looking productive and town without actually having to risk anything
But I do get it.-

Sure. Oka spam posts as either alignment, I'm not sure if he's town or not here, I think it was a nice touch if he's scum that he "tried" to control his posting and enthusiasm. Overall though I do think his start out of thinking "oh shit, I rolled town in a scum-sided set up, but I love this shit" is kind of coming off as genuine to me.In post 77, Dannflor wrote:
personally I would love to hear even your under-baked half-formed initial impressions if you are willing to shareIn post 76, Bell wrote:I'm doing both(I'm just not saying anything about it because they're vague initial impressions)
You I'm not sure if you're posturing/hewing too close to the town norm/purist version to be town, but I wouldn't really know. Your question to me is largely open ended and it depends on the player to respond well rather than definitively determine my own alignment. So thanks for the opportunity, but I don't feel much.
DGB is being DGB. This is a challenging set up and I wonder if they joined because they want to improve at their hunting or hope to gain something here, since I kind of screwed up last game I was in with them. I'm not sure how that emotional component will effect them this game.
I kinda felt the snipe by what's their face was very low hanging fruit. But in RVS, I really can't hold that against them. Could be town trying to generate content, could be scum trying to generate content without really asking me anything. I'll just keep an eye with people I don't know and people I do know that's what I prefer to do.
The yellow alt guy, is interesting they're saying something relatively new But I'm not sure what to make of it. Unique takes aren't particularly townie or scummy to me, rather they launched off with their own opinions without waiting and seeing what everyone else thinks. Which is probably a good rule of thumb as either alignment.
@Lavar: The dynamic of using players to communicate what is going on in separate neighborhoods.-

It's just that I'm going to do it in a notes PT and then post it all at once if I can ever be assed to.
Right now I'm still stuck on a lot of things. Basically I don't think we can do the partial elimination thing. Since the time table is too hard core for me as the mod won't speed the game up even if we force the scum team to agree to our terms.
So it's going to be some kind of plan involving how the neighborhoods are going to be organized.-

Don't ask people to trust you in a game of mafia. Also, it makes more sense just to sort me early because it gives town the advantage, how you get to sorting me correctly however is an entirely different matter. I literally think you're plotting but I'm not sure if you're doing it for town ends or scum ends. Also, is omgus a bad thing here, or is this a tongue in cheek/postury thing? I don't think it makes sense for you to say, "I'm above it all" and actually think it seriously.-

@cupcake, I have summer vacation off and a lot of free time but no that’s not the only reason. I also want to focus more because I don’t think I’m very good at reading people correctly and while more effort might not actually make me anymore accurate it would make me feel less bad about it.
@Save the dragons, I’m voting you because you posted elsewhere but not here. Also, I have no idea how to read you from the last game we played, you’re very floaty. kind of hoping you’ll be more grounded if I vote you.-

Cupcake seems to be very relational. In terms of focus. There's hunting outside of that quirk, but the relational stuff comes off as odd given it's being used in the context of trying to understand another person, but where there might be hesitance to understand a member of scum they just directly apply it. Rather they appear to take it at the word of the person rather than employing alternative explanations/motivations for a post.
I have a lot of people that I'm still thinking about.
Bingle seems...okay so far? Rather he tends to come off as more fun when he's scum. Here his tone is sharper or more aggressive. But I don't have much experience with them.-

And yet I’m kind of leaning town on them inexplicably. I think I’m weak to nice. Even though polite scum is a thing.
But I also suspect it’s just because their process seems involved which I don’t really associate with scum. But blah.
