If people talk about dragonballs and don't do any scumhunting then call them out on an individual level; I don't think talking about them hurts the town and I do think a mechanic that can effectively give scum an extra member if we mess up should be discussed.

What is it that you enjoy about playing scum?
Because I put myself in the shoes of a hypothetical Scum!Maria, and I see someone with nothing to do.

You've got all these townies with their back and forths and their sorting reads and it's all so droll, but they are all just walking around in circles sniffing each others asses and haven't even really looked your way. But you have no reason to challenge the status quo, so you find yourself just sitting there.

As far as twisting words, it's good to note that you are self conscious about the act. Many scum tell themselves that their rhetoric is rock solid and that they are making perfectly sound observations that happen to be wrong. I look at the way you just interacted with Desperado and go "yep, that fits."

in my experience, unless i get a sense that Tywin is purposely trying to fake it, asserting that falsehoods are true over and over isn't a scum trait. i've been trying to see if his frustration could stem from being scum and being 'right' but having no one listen to him anyway, or if that's town frustration. but i don't think 'lying' in this case is particularly scummy. at least not from Tywin, based on his scumplay in our last game. if that doesn't make sense it's because this is all nebulous and difficult to make a good decision on right now.

If you ARE town then my suggestion is to stop worrying about what others think and worry about finding scum. This 'I'm always SR, poor me' approach sucks, and Socrates says you've used it as scum before. Since there's a precedent, idk why you think I (or anyone else) should just take your word for it here. It's contradictory to your own meta. So how can you use meta as an excuse for looking scummy when you've literally used that excuse as scum before? It invalidates the entire meta argument from the start, and so your posts (shaz side) look way worse in that light.

Funny, Day 1 of the scumgame that Clumsy linked me to consisted entirely of jockeying back and forth between two players the entire day with not even the slightest hint of a wagon forming on anyone else, with one person going "I don't like these two wagons and think scum are lurking on the wagons".
That person was scum. One of those two people being wagoned were scum (Clumsy Phoenix themselves).

I note also that this game serves as minor evidence that their "always scumread" thing is not entirely alignment indicative. They aren't like Maria is basically claiming to be -- only ever scumread as town -- and they are certainly self-aware enough to use this shield AS scum. I haven't finished reading the game yet to my satisfaction, though, and then I still need to take a look at some of their town games.

Tywin makes it real easy for his rhetorical opponents because of how excitable he is, how reductive he seems to get about his opponent's arguments once he scumreads them, and the sheer volume of words he puts out making it easy to find holes.

This, in turn, is making it hard for me to tell if CP has stepped up their game or if they just found an easy person to argue with.

Imperium, I would actually like to hear your hard sell on why Tywin is town, if you don't mind.

In the meantime, I'm moving back.

There's nothing to latch onto in your play. You made the argument that you caring less is a town tell of yours, which makes sense as a general tell for someone who prefers scum, but as a townie who is around in thread chances are that something will grab you or get you engaged unless you're just not around while your play as scum (let Clumsy get mislynched today, soft defend them but don't make too many waves otherwise) is a much more accessible narrative.

Well you not self-voting makes the whole thing look like ate instead of town frustration. (What most people regard as ate is just people expressing their frustration or having an emotional response to the game itself.) But the fact that you asked for a vote count and said you were going to self vote after getting the vote count is what makes it look calculated and makes everything else look like ate.

Most of the time townies self vote when they're frustrated in the moment and it's an emotional response, typically there you're not going to ask for a vote count because if you have the presence of mind for that then you're not frustrated where you think all is lost. Sometimes townies self vote at deadline to avoid a no lynch. But scum self vote to make it look like they're frustrated or like they don't care if they're lynched, in that case they do care where they are on the train because they're trying to come across town.

Well it depends I played a few forum games on there the set ups were much dif but my town game was still very strong compared to my scum game I got caught almost right away as scum where as town I caught scum or was very obv town by the end of day 1
A lot of the games are what you guys call marathon games though where it's an open setup and everyone joins a lobby and you type live the reactions are live you vote live etc night meetings on who to kill/plan last 2 minutes most games last from 10 minutes to-30 I've won a gold trophy playing those types of games
