I was going to suggest doing some of the non-combat interactions in the thread during the downtime between sessions, but I'm not sure how that would affect the main campain sessions themselves if they weren't resolved before hand. At the very least, it could still save some time.

I'm still off on Wednesday. :]

I'd be available and able to play for the beginning of the session if you started earlier. But depending on how long the session is, I'd probably have to leave later on like last time.

Yeah, I'm dropping the Mounted Combat stuff since we dungeon crawl so much. Fakegod wouldn't let me trade it in for anything. So I decided to go Isabella Delacroix, 'Slayer of Mages, Defender of Squishies'.

I can't afford heavy armor without party funds. I don't know how much we have, so I left it blank.

Teela has a Ring of Protection +1 and the Eyes of Eagle.
Mo'ak has a Ring of Protection +1 and Gauntlets of Ogre Power.

The Mithral Shirt may or may not have been lost after we got TPK'ed last week. It depends on whether Who4 was wearing it or not.

Who used up the Scrolls of Burning Hands and Levitate.

I don't know where any of the other stuff is.

There's another encounter we have to deal with. It'll be explained in the summary, probably.

I'm spending 350 gp on more potions.

So 39473 gp.

That's the general gist of it. I was writing a summary but Quadz' is shorter and better.

We weren't able to identify the exact spells that were affecting Isana and Ivan, but that they were from the school of Necromancy and of a high level. We were also able to deduce the woman from the sarcophagus was most likely the same vampire from the feast of Marangal's tribe.

In post 970, FakeGod wrote:(Meanwhile, Isa tanked like 6 fireballs to the face and took... 2 damage?)

This was my favorite part of the encounter. :P

I liked the tentacle thing. Unfortunately, the placement of the spells made it incredibly difficult for either side to attack each other until those caught in it died. I didn't even know there were other mages in the chamber aside from Gif pointing them out (which was fine because the plant thing had to be dealt with). I'm just curious as to how much damage the plant could have done had it landed any of its attacks.

@lilith: I think you should pick something that looks fun for you.

If you like magic, you can try a sorcerer or a wizard. Druids are also good spellcasters and they get an animal companion.

If you want to hit things, you can try a barbarian, fighter, or knight.

If you like the idea of doing both, you can try a duskblade.

Our party leader is planning on hiring an NPC rogue to join us, so you do have the option of taking over that character with FakeGod's approval, or if you really like the idea of being a rogue, you can be one too. Ninjas similarly take advantage of sneak attack like rogues, but generally have an easier time getting in position to deal sneak attack damage. Both are good choices if you like the idea of a stealthy character.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in this thread or join us in the dnd site chat lobby.

Yeah, Hana plans on hiring the captains assistant that we met in the goblin stronghold. Hana has some ulterior motives for it though.

I thought the main reason you were multiclassing into rogue was for the sneak attack damage.

You would need at least one level of scout to even take the feat because the skirmish feature is a prerequisite. How much of each class you should go into depends on what features you want to utilize from each class.

Who is in charge of party funds and equipment, and he should be able to tell you what we can afford.

I think you should place any item requests here in this thread ahead of time, but waiting until your first session is fine too. You can also probably find one of us in site chat or in the Scummers D&D site chat room.

Regarding solo adventures and split parties, I don't mind them so long as the players involved are conscientious that there are other players at the table and we only get about 3 hours to play per week. I didn't have an issue with Who's solo adventure, but I was also doing other things, so I'm a little biased (although I was part of an air brigade that got tpk'ed and wasted an entire session, so I think I can understand how some of the other players might feel about being relegated to spectate).

I don't know if you let others know, but you did tell me it was going to be an option for this campaign and I told you I was fine with it. I also think spur of the moment decisions can be fun and exciting. It kind of reminded me of Keyleth in that one series.

@Who: I wouldn't take delight in seeing another PC die. :[

It doesn't matter to me. My character has an oath to Lor, not the gnome. I just don't see a reason to have both the tanks together if we're splitting.

Spoiler:
Most of the information you need is in the first post of this thread. Fake God has included a list of allowed source books for this campaign. I suggest taking a look at Players Handbook I first as that's the most basic and core rulebook and has all the information you need on learning how to play the game.

After that, take a look through some of the other books and look for something you think will be fun to play. Most of us are also new to D&D and are very noob friendly. Feel free to ask us for advice or ideas as well!

Once you've made your character and feel comfortable with the rules, just join us for one of our sessions and you're good to go. If you go to the stream Fake God set up, you can even watch a video of one of our typical sessions! We have a lot of players already, so you're free to mostly pick something you think looks fun to play rather than worrying about filling in.

This is our general party composition:
Tanks
Danum - Knight
Kat - Paladin/Kensai (no magic)

Melee Damage Dealers
Lor - Rogue/Swashbuckler
Seline - Duskblade

Ranged Damage Dealers
Avina - Gunmage (main protagonist )
Karl - Ranger

Battlefield Control
Who - Wizard

????
Ether - Bard (NPC)

We used to have a Cleric. While it's really helpful, please only pick it if it's something you want to play and not because other people want you to.

I'm just going to forewarn you that Fake God likes combat and might kill your character if you do something worthy of death. But if that's what interests you the most, go for it. There are some other basic classes in some of the other books though.

Sure. Take exotic weapon proficiency (rifle).

Here are some stats for renaissance firearms from the DMG, which are allowed in most of my campaigns (including this campaign):

Pistol - One handed, 1d10 damage, Crit x3, range 50ft, Piercing. Standard Action to reload.

Musket - Two handed, 1d12 damage, Crit x3, range 150ft, Piercing. Standard Action to reload.

Here are stats for a futuristic weapon from DMG:

Antimatter rifle - Two handed, 6d8 damage, Crit x2, range 120ft. Unnamed damage type. 2 shots per clip. Move action to reload.

This is very tempting.

Do I build it similar to a ranged fighter?

But if Craft is invested in, Warforged can potentially heal themselves (and they don't need to sleep, so...). It's also pretty cool to have a sentry for when the party needs to rest. Do you allow the new spells as well, like Repair?

I'll probably be sticking with my druid build if Gif is serious about going Frenzied Berserker.

I'm also willing to play cleric, reflavored warlock, sorcerer, or some sort of rogue depending on what we need.

I kind of don't want to play a druid with a Changeling War Shaper since I don't see my character wanting to travel with something I myself am having trouble picturing as anything other than an abomination. But maybe that's just me.

I also partly don't want to play tanky or bruiser dps if other people are providing opportunities to fill another role.

I'm in major support of you going with your build since I find it really interesting. I just don't like the idea of me being a druid if that's what you're going with. I kind of want to see what others want to play before deciding what route I take.

It's not really worth being LG unless your party is like minded. I find Hana to be a godsend in this respect, but Who and Conman are very problematic.

I don't know much about enchantment. But I think it's pros and cons are similar to those of a beguiler (albeit much less exaggerated). I haven't really looked at the spell lists, so it's hard for me to make that decision.

I've started a Specialized Transmuted build. I'm currently undecided on whether to Focus and ban another school.

Master Specialist is currently part of the build. But I'm considering whether it's worth taking a Level 5 bonus feat over it. Paragonstic Apostle and Fatespinner are also part of the build.

Gnome's get +1 racial. The +2 is for their saves. They can still get spell focus (illusion) for another +1.

I was considering taking advantage of his low Will save with Fear spells, except Frenzy makes him attack all enemies with complete disregard to his own safety. So now it's pretty much figure out how to stop him until his effect ends (or give him bonuses to his Will Save like Guidance or Resistance).

Target will, my will save is going to be shitty until I go occult slayer. Or ref, my ref save will be eh. Don't target fortitude unless you want to end up on the end of my spiked chain.

And GiF is going for a build with very high will save. If you buff his will save by a tiny bit more he'll be guaranteed to make his save. (And he gets immunity to natural 1s by one of the feats)

You're surprisingly easy to deal with compared to Gif.

Wasn't this suggested by someone and we didn't do it because of X reason?

If by splitting you mean having smaller parties complete different objectives within the same campaign, then I thought we were already doing this. However, I'm against having an A Squad and a Scrub Squad as I feel Scrub Squad would find it difficult to survive on their own.

If by splitting you mean two separate campaigns, then I'm okay with it and I will play something else. As far as spoilering goes, it's also pretty easy to deal with if you're willing to create Private Topics for each separate group.

It blocks charm and compulsion effects. Where are you getting that it blocks evil spells? Confusion is a compulsion spell.

I don't know if Confusion falls under 'ongoing control over a subject,' but Disobedience doesn't protect against evil spells.

To be fair, I had no idea we were gonna fight Ryslin until right before we did.

I thought Disobedience was better than it actually is. Protection from Evil is what we actually needed.

We know there are other entrances to the mine. Do we have the option of looking for the other kobold encampments/groups?

I remember there being a small rest area for the kobold scouting/mining party. But I can't remember what was in it. Would there be enough materials, tools, and other supplies from their sleeping area and mining office to create make shift bridges to cross the platforms?

There's also an interesting Underdark Champion acf you might be interested in instead depending on the amount of dungeoneering we do.
