I am somewhat worried that I won't be able to play Wukong jungle, because the difficulty of the jungle is gonna go up apparently and wukong's first clear is very bad, health-wise. I may have to stick to wukong top.

It's not like I can't bring him top - I've beaten ranged champions before with the monkey (just handily beat swain several days ago), and I've got a 100% win rate vs. Jax with wukong as well.

I never got that much. I always did fine maxing W or E first, cleared pretty well (auto-e-auto for the attack speed and %hp damage) and never lacked cc for ganks.

Is that a Legendary skin or just your wishlist? (that would be cool, though).

Those charts are funny as hell, too

No, that's an actual skin.

Am I the only one to think new Soraka's really bullshit and needs toning down? The Q seems way too easy to hit, even at mid range. Which means free (and infinite) healing for everyone.

Also, this marks two games in a row where I play aac and the support d/c's partway through laning phase. Why do I even bother?

Soraka's job has
always
been to keep her carries healthy. Not to engage or disengage, really. What she does she's clearly best-at-class in by a very large scale. Add on spammable poke that doubles as a self-heal and I don't really see a way of getting past Soraka. Also she completely shuts down carries such as Graves, Corki, Varus, Lucian, and Ezreal, who need to be casting spells to be useful.

That too. My favourite ADCs are pretty much all on that list. (Varus is also one of my top 3 ADCs).

God, Draven is hilarious. Also, that Nami was so good.

EDIT: You know botlane is fed when the support has more gold than the midlaner.

I really like the wolf bonus for smiting, as a side note. Will be great for defending against invades. (Do wolves before you start blue to gaurantee no invades).

Unrelatedly; Varus is the most underrated ADC in league. Period. His only major weakness being mobile assassins/lack of mobility.

Not having an escape is a pretty huge weakness. I like Varus mind you, I just don't think you can write it off as 'oh, he -only- lacks mobility'.

That's also why Ashe doesn't really work in this meta, either, although she's a bit more of a burst ADC than Varus is.

I don't Varus counts as a hypercarry, though, so it's not like he's a second Kog'Maw. (why wouldn't he, though, out of curiosity?)

He's pretty close, but not quite. The ideal combo is 3 autos -> ult -> 3 autos -> q -> 3 autos -> w, which shreds just about anything, but that takes time.

As someone is learning j4, who is also not BRO:

21/9/0, AD reds, armor yellows, mix of MR/level and MR blues, AD quints. Bot side buff -> wolves -> top side buff.

Notes to self:

1) I still hate playing with Ezreals. I can't see him as anything other than a bad generalist
2) Yasuo has very little counterplay and is still ban-worthy. He will continue to be ban worthy until they remove his w and either remove his crit chance or his % armor pen on ult.

Fellow armsmen, I ask you,
Will you follow me tonight to break their spine,
And reclaim what once was mine?
Those cravens.

Backstabbed me, deceived me,
Never shall I tolerate their crimes again,
Now let the hunt begin.

7000 souls, scared and daunted, such tale of woe,
Not too long ago, this village was a golden
scene of hope.

Pentakill confirmed!

First 3 levels:

E -> Q -> W. Max E, as it's your best waveclear and harass. From there, buy as a standard AP mage(chalice/grail, sorc boots, zhonya's, Dcap, void staff as your first items. If you're safe, lich bane, otherwise a GA or something.).

Combo is Q -> (auto if safe) -> E (both procs) -> R. You won't really 100-0 things if not fed, but you can burst them out pretty well. You can also do E (first proc)-> Q -> (auto) -> E (second proc) -> R, as the slow on E makes Q easier to hit. After your ult, if you can get an auto off safely, do so.

I've really been enjoying my AD Jungle Fizz (which still does more magic than physical damage on my build), but I can't seem to get my laners out of laning phase ahead despite multiple ganks that results in kills. Also, it takes a huge ass time to scale, from what I find (my build is flare -> boots -> bork -> triforce -> tank).

Also, question about Fiora as Fizz - you can e to stop her ulting you if she is mid-ult, yes?

If there are no friendly minions around, melee minions take 2 turret hits and 1 auto attack (it WILL take two for the first few levels unless you have a Janna) while ranged minions take a single tower hit and two auto attacks. I never memorized it with cannon minions since it's usually easier to just eyeball it for me.

This is one of the reasons why I love ADCs with waveclear. My last-hitting under turret is pretty mediocre if I'm not focusing solely on that, and minion aggro makes it hard sometimes too. So I'll just waveclear most of it to 1 hit and auto everything, so the turret can't kill most of it.

If I'm behind in lane (and sometimes when I'm ahead and am worried about my midgame against certain champs), I'll rush a defensive item (ex. banshee's vs. lulu, sunfire or frozen heart vs. irelia), followed by my offensive item(s) when i feel like I can survive long enough in fights.

As ADC, I just rush damage anyways. The class is useless with more than one (or two if REALLY needed) defensive options.

Going back to Kalista quickly, here. She has:

1) A dash on no cooldown (chase/kite queen here)
2) FREE VISION (on a supposedly short cooldown)
3) The ability to initiate

No, that's not broken.

Jarvan is an
amazing
pick, near (if not) top-tier, and has amazing ganking/dueling/invading/counterganking potential. And he jumps if you can hit skillshots!

The only things you have to learn about j4 is how much burst he does (a lot) and landing the E->Q combo, which is pretty easy by the end of your first match (you can also practice on the camps, which can help you clear them).

First three levels is E -> Q -> W. The only hard rule on j4's levelling order is max Q. W and E are both situational 2ndary levels (W for better followup on your ganks and better sustain, E for faster clears and more autos), and sometimes I just put an extra point in one of the two and max the other.

OK, I need help on something really stupid.

I can't lane against Vayne. I can lane against every other ADC fine, but I've not found a way that works for me to lane against Vayne and shut her down. I don't want to push her into tower, but can't kill her/force her back when she's not pushed into tower either because PERCENTAGE HP TRUE DAMAGE IS FAIR AND BALANCED.

Generally Graves, because I tend to pick Graves when I'm not sure what to pick. However I have this problem with Jinx as well, which is the adc I tend to pick
into Vayne

I'm not asking for tips on what ADC to play, I'm asking for tips on how to lane against Vayne. And
please
don't say "don't sit near walls". I don't. I just find that during laning I can at no point either get close enought to the Vayne to kill her or she'll outdamage me when I do get near her.

The problem with Graves vs. Vayne (for me, at least) is that you have to GO IN ON THE VAYNE (like get close) to get the max damage out of your Q. At which point the vayne can just tumble, condemn, and beat the everliving shit out of you. Also super-lategame scalers really shouldn't have hard cc in their kit. It makes them obnoxious.

Jinx I can do much better than Graves into Vayne.

Panzer - No.

Wazza - You nisinterpreted. You keep S4's rank, but you can continue to climb for S5, because a higher MMR will get you a higher placement in S5, which means less climbing.

In post 38189, Oman wrote:

Wukong seems super strong. I should prob learn him. I always always struggle against him.

Spoiler: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WUKONG
General
  • Wukong's my blue side jungler pick unless there is synergy on red side - why? Simple. You can start red buff on blue side, get a good leash from bot, and bypass wukong's big weakness. His first clear. Red -> wolves -> Blue -> Crab is my start.
  • Skill order for first three levels is E-Q-W, max order is R-E-Q-W. The reason why you max E first is because there's more base damage in that than in Q when maxxed. Q also scales better with AD/Armor Pen
  • Wukong has a number of synergies, item-wise. AD, Armor Pen, CDR, and Health are the big ones. I'll go over all of them:
    • AD - Melee Carry, all of his important damaging skills have an AD scaling. His ult is 1.1 AD, too.
    • Armor Pen - Synergy with Q. If you stack pen, you'll also be doing pretty much true damage thanks to your ult + Q.
    • CDR - Get that ult on as low of a cooldown as possible. Have it up for whenever you need it.
    • Health - With Wukong's passive, a full blown teamfight gives you an extra chain vest and negatron cloak at level 13. Because of this, you can get away with less defensive items, but you still need health to not be instapopped.

  • You can use decoy to tank camps for you once you hit level 3. It also deals a lot of damage to camps early.
  • BE CAREFUL WHEN USING DECOY
. If you're running and use decoy, it'll look weird. That said, there are a number of champions this will still work on for the most part. Udyr is a big one that comes to mind.
  • On the same aspect, if you clone while being chased, run in a different, random direction (preferably completely opposite from the direction you would normally run). The clone will either be hit or you'll get away around 85% of the time.
  • The clone can be hit by skillshots. It's especially great against blitz, because he full combos your clone.

ITEMS
  • As a jungler, grab Trailblazer with warrior. SYNERGY IS INSANE.
  • Black Cleaver is core. With Q + ult, you shred everyone's armor.
  • I wuold only recommend Hydra when ahead. The item is kinda costly for a jungler right now, plus you don't NEED the hydra active on wukong anyways.
  • I love Ohmwrecker. Health, CDR, and THAT ACTIVE MAKES DIVES SO EASY.
  • Sunfire and Randuin's are both great choice on wukong. Sunfire gives you more AOE (and extra magic damage), but Randuin's keeps everyone in the ult for longer.
  • For a more damage oriented wukong (assassin monkey), Buy Trailblazer + Warrior,Black Cleaver, Hydra, and Last Whisper with mobi boots and GA. You'll one-shot things but you're super squishy.
  • For a bruiser build, Trailblazer + Warrior, Black Cleaver, [Hydra OR LW], with mercs or tabi and defensive items. I recommend this build path, as you do lots of damage and can't be focused easily.
  • Tanky monkey is Trailblazer + Juggernaut, Black Cleaver, into full tank. This is more of a supportive build path then a carry build path.

RUNES AND MASTERIES
  • RUNES - AD reds, Armor yellows, 3x Magic Resist blues, 6x CDR blues, AD quints. Wukong already has an attack speed steroid, so grabbing some AD for early clears is what I'd recommend.
  • MASTERIES - 21/9/0. I grab tough skin and bladed armor to help with early clears, and skip block and unyielding. I also get spell & blade weaving because wukong can use both relatively effectively, at the expense of two points in warlord.

If you want to know about wukong top, I can help with that too.

You do realize that wukong beats Gnar handily, right? Your level 2 powerspike is also pretty big (bigger than most champs), and you can win lane at 2 if you try.

Is it the best around? No. Is it unplayable? Hardly.

Decoy her stun, win all the fights as you outdamage her early, and with an early game advantage you can snowball the lane.

Their first ban was wukong, then they first picked jarvan. I decided the Vi worked pretty well with the comp :P

Yeah, I just camped bot and killed Thresh a lot - Kat roamed as a Kat should, and after bot was fed I ganked the Jarvan who was wining vs. Teemo. Then all the lanes got fed and we snowballed super hard.

It's nice to see Zed has no counterplay aside from two items.

It's impossible to hit him with any cc because shadows and targeted CC doesn't really exist anymore in this game. Like, he's impossible to stop and so fucking broken. WHY. I HATE ZED SO MUCH. HE'S MORE CANCEROUS THAN FIZZ WILL EVER BE.

The only reason I'd start krugs if I was a heavy auto-attack based champion(ex. xin zhao, warwick). The stun, while nice to have, still leave you on lower health then starting red buff with a leash would. Smiting red buff allows you bonus HP when smited, the red buff true damage on auto, and the HP regen that red buff also provides now. This camp will get you to level 2, allowing you do to wolves/birds and blue buff and get to 3.

The next decision is between wolves and raptors/chickens/birds/etc. Simply put, wolves do less damage. Blue buff doesn't pose too much of a problem at this point, because I generally have both pots left. I use one here, then grab the crab afterwrads for even more HP.

I don't use this route for just wukong. I use it for everyone. If you're playing J4 or some such early game ganking champ, you can gank immediately and have no problems. If you're playing a farm champ like wukong, you can clear without problem.

Currently the go-to mana regen for mids is double morellonomicons. 40% CDR and 200% mana regen or whatever for really cheap.

Regarding Varus, I would love for his abilities to cost less than they do right now by like 20 mana. His Q & E are long cooldown (for a spammy champ) and cost so much. His mana pool cannot take it. I'd argue that'd be all he needs to be good again. Or it'd help a lot.

Regarding Graves, duelist Graves is fun and hilarious (Bork into PD, IE, LW). Try it some time xD

Kalista is straight up cancer because it's an adc that cannot be cc'd because she'll never take cc (and not be in range to be targetted long enough), so it's free damage. I expect her the be played. Rek'sai is super strong because overtuned, so she'll be seeing play for now.

In regards to Sion, I doubt he'll see pro play - he's just not that reliable.

Here's the thing.

I already have Piltover Customs - and I don't even play heimer. Free skin though, so yay?

Winrate doesn't make him a bad champion, that is just people who can't play him playing him and being bad.

Seriously though, wazza is right. He's just picked a lot by people who think he's OP and don't know how he works :P

He been one of the most popular champions since forever.

You think people would have figured it out by now

Or he's actually bad in this jungle because it's hard to pull off an early gank when the jungle itself is so hard.

Thresh has a 47% win rate - is he also a bad champion? Him and lee sin are seen as "consistent OP"s by a lot of bronzies, so they purchase them and play them in ranked because "they're OP", and have no idea how to play them. So they suck/feed/etc.

And by the same virtue, Heimerdinger and Cass both have a 54% winrate. I've not seen anyone call them broken yet.

I'm convinced that Zed has no weaknessess aside from QSS/Zhonya's and cannot lose games and matches.

Hecarim mid.

I don't own Hecarim, and that wouldn't help even if I did.

I don't feel like Zed has counterplay because all he does is poke you until you're at about 75% hp then all-ins you and kills you. You can't beat him in anall-in with ANYTHING.

His earlygame is complete bullshit, his midgame is bullshit, his towerkilling is bullshit, his assassinating is bullshit, his waveclear is bullshit, etc. And to top it off it's impossible to cc him because shadows need to be on a 1 minute cooldown at least with the bonus AD it has.

If it helps elk, my roster looks like this.

Top - Shen, Darius, Volibear (J4, Wukong as backups). I'll purchase Fiora eventually. Shen can play fairly agressive in (most) matchups, too.
Jungle - Jarvan, Evelynn, Wukong, Vi, Xin, Lee
Mid - Mordekaiser, Azir (Orianna, Leblanc, Talon as backups)
ADC - Miss Fortune, Draven, Graves, Corki, Jinx, Varus
Support - Nami, Thresh, Karma

With the exception of volibear and "any ranged", they can't touch a shen with chain vest assuming they're equal goldwise.

OK, so I'm kind of stuck in a rut here. I keep losing ranked matches and I'm never really sure what I could be improving on. I'm willing if there is someone (preferably those who were like G2+ last season) who would be willing to spectate my games on occasion and tell me what I'm doing or not doing.

I don't see why that's a problem. I have 2-3 (or more) comfort champs on every role, so yeah.

I'm pretty sure that's partially MMR-based or just the fact that you may have won all of your games in that tier?

That's three different categories of champions, right there.

Irelia is Triforce (and bork if you're doing well/not behind) into tank. Triforce is her core because she procs sheen very efficiently and uses every stat on the item well. Triforce also turns her into an effective assassin that's near impossible to peel.

Darius is Tiamat into Sunfire/Banshee's or Triforce into probably tank. Tiamat allows him to animation cancel his W, adding to his insane burst, with the survivability to be a frontline in teamfights.

Fiora is Hydra into as much attack damage/CDR you can buy, with a GA at the end. You're a splitpusher, duelist, and assassin through and through. You jump on a carry, use your cds, and ult when you're in trouble so you can both lifesteal and get your cds back.

So I had a pretty awesome 1v4 triple kill in this game.

I noted the enemy team was likely to start a 4 person baron as I was running, so I ran to the other end of the baron the long way around(from behind), letting them think I was running away. After slowly going around, I E'd the baron, killing their low HP Jax, and proceeded to focus down the Orianna - this prompted Jinx and Vi to bolt from the baron, but I was able to kill Jinx before they got away.

My suggestions:

Wukong
- Can be played in top or mid also rather easily (and as a REALLY gimmicky support. Don't do it.) His jungle clears are very bad early, but he makes up for it with his post-6 ganks, which are DEADLY when done even moderately right. He's also very effective at counterganking pre-6. He brings with him fantastic juke potential as well as hard engage, and his passive allows him to build a bit more offensively than most junglers.

As a laner, he counters melee assassins (big examples being akali, fizz, katarina, yasuo), and has a relatively easy time with most ranged opponents (gnar is a huge one), and his level 2 power spike with E + Q is HUGE. Has problems vs. big lane bullies (ex. renekton, riven), tanks, and sustain if you don't start flask.

Graves
- One of the best lane bullies. Has an easy time in lane vs. most ADCs (one of the best ADCs to pick into Draven imo, as Graves can go toe to toe with Draven early, and doesn't have to worry about poking out Draven), brings with him lots of burst and can snowball the lane REALLY HARD with just one kill. His passive is really good and can mitigate a lot of harass and turns trades in your favour as well.

He can also be played mid with success (I've done it very well against a multitude of standard mids), if needed. His main weakness is being short ranged and falling off late game - Caitlyn can also be a huge problem if you don't engage on her and kill her a lot during laning.

Corki
- Has potentially the best one-item powerspike as an ADC, and provides a ton of mixed damage (physical/magic/true), allowing him to be played with full AD comps and save the day. His pre-6 is not bad by any means, but his post-6 is AMAZING, especially with sheen. getting an ult rocket + sheen proc is absurd poke, and can force trades that go in your favour automatically.

He can be played as AD or AP (I know people who love AP corki, so I decided to mention it), and can play mid effectively as well. His main weaknessess are his mana costs - he cant keep poking forever, especially if you want enough mana to use your escape. Also, corki is arguably the adc that scales the worst.

Leona
- The definition of hard engage. Leona's done best when she's picked with an adc that can either provide great followup damage (Draven, Graves), or even more CC so they cannot leave (Ashe, Varus). Her job is essentially to be a frontline engage tank, but if she needs to, she can peel fairly effectively with her q (which is also an auto reset - good for killing wards!) and ult (aoe stuns for multiple engagers!). Her passive also provides a ton of extra damage if it can be procced, which can be very underrated and is one of the reason why twitch or corki + leona is AMAZING.

Leona's main weaknesses are, hilariously enough, cc. If you can stop her from finishing her zenith blade dash, she can't really do much in a fight. Likewise, poke destroys her, as she has very little sustain outside of targon's procs. If her or her team are behind, it makes it hard for Leona to really engage a fight, as she'll just die before she can do much. Also, Morgana exists.

Lee Sin
- Aside from arguing how high his skill cap is, jungling with him is now much harder than it used to be - as you need to fully use your passive early in order to effectively clear. I don't think it needs to be said how good lee's early ganks are, and how amazing they get after he hits 6. His bases are VERY high, and he has a lot in his kit (gapcloser + execute, sustain, shield, movespeed slow, knockback), so a good lee (or even a half decent one, really) can snowball every lane out of control easily. Lee can be played top lane (or even mid if you really want) to success with more of an AD-focused assassin build path, if wanted.

Lee does however have drawbacks. Lee falls off VERY HARD if he doesn't build damage, and if he builds damage, he's very squishy. Also, you won't always be able to snowball the lanes you want, and that's partially due to the fact that in soloq, people like to push waves and deny enemies cs under tower. If you don't get snowballing early, you become a mediocre peelbot for your adc, which isn't the worst job, but it's also not the best. Also, while the basics of lee are not that difficult, it can take a lot of time to become more nuanced with him, and it's totally possible to outright fail your first few lee games.

I feel like the difference between Nami and Sona is small but noticable. Sona's a lane bully-poke support, with an AOE engage tool, where as Nami's a lane bully support that has AMAZING 2v2 potential, with top tier disengage and counter-engage.

Sona works better with poke-style ADCs (ex. Corki, Ez) or champs that wombo off her ult (MF), while Nami works better with adcs that can duel effectively (ex. Draven, Vayne, Graves).

What hito and BRO said are right. If you're skilled enough to beat hard counters with your champion, then you can pick it pretty much blind regardless of comp. It's always better to play something you're good at in ranked, regardless of counters and teamcomps.

That said, Galio also does both disengage (q slow, e MS boost) and engage (flash/ult) fairly well, and serves amazingly in wombo comps. Pair him with an Amumu or a MF and bam. A skilled Galio player can also build more AP-magey and still be fine - building MR is obviously BETTER, but if you pick him early and they don't get much AP damage, you can go magey. Or more of a tank build.
