When you said you were calling me out for my useless vote on blair, I thought woah, did that happen? And then I saw this post in your iso and I was severely underwhelmed.

You overpromised and under delivered.

There's actually no way that you can think that I voted you in order to preemptively strike you for calling me out on my useless vote. This narrative is false.

You're a liar, and are scum.

GC and Blair, do you need me to clarify the significance of this turn of events for you? I appreciate your support in voting my 3rd scumread but I feel more confidence in my top one. Would be glad to explain further.

We caught two scum in the first 10 pages? Well that was easy!

I'm kind of surprised Reck and Puppy are such wallpaper this game. Not really what I was expecting from either
This is moderately scummy.

VOTE: VP Baltar
Votes me in a classically ABR way, so not really alignment indicative of anything. Unclear whether the "this" in that sentence refers to making a sarcastic remark about llama's inane full solve posts or me nudging Reck and Puppy on their inactivity and seeing how they reacted. Neither is a good reason for voting, but eh.

What I do think is important about the ABR vote is that it comes right after I point out he has a useless vote camped on Blair.
VP claims that I voted him in response to his pointing out that I have a useless vote camped on Blair (my 2nd vote after RVS on Hoopla).

I thought that was weird but he doubles down below.

This is the weak ass post he's referring to.

Here's my case on VP Baltar:

1) He's desperately trying to look town and willing to make big posts calling out some people as town and some as scummy (he says I'm NAI in the big post, later says he doesn't like that I am rolefishing Reck). MT says this is town but it seems incredibly pre-planned to me so I think she's the scumbuddy.

2) He's lying without pro-town motivation. He's not really baiting me, or overstating his strength to pressure me, he's changing history in order to make it seem like he WAS scumhunting which caused my reaction

3) can you see how his "calling me out" barely registered with me? It was a non-event I skimmed without thinking twice about... but in his mind it was a brave call-out because when you're scum every little push feels like a big play

4) the way he doubled down is scummy

Conclusion: VP Baltar is the first scum.

I definitely agree with you that the call out wasn't really a call out.

Don't people tend to overestimate how strong or influential their posts are regardless of alignment, though? I kind of feel like VP thought he was making a clever, nuanced point that would barb you there and read that expectation into your reaction. Help me understand why you see it differently?
You're right that town tend to remember their posts being stronger, but this usually happens after a scum flip and they believe they deserve more credit for their suspicion.

This isn't that.

This is VP Baltar defending himself against pressure by saying that I'm attacking him as a form of OMGUS because he made a throwaway line about me voting with MT not achieving anything.

First of all, it's weird that he would say that, because I think pressure on Blair helps to get the ball rolling, and it feels like him trying to pocket Blair.

Second of all, how does it help him feel better about himself? Townies are self-serving too, but this is a complex lie that does 3 things for him:

1) Gets Blair on his side
2) Makes it appear as if he's in an active scumhunting mode and throwing it all out there holding nothing back, calling everyone out for their suspicious behavior
3) Makes it appear as if I'm OMGUSing him in a way because his scumhunting was so pinpoint accurate, but that doesn't make me scum necessarily because he's such a nuanced player, but he's still discrediting me for rolefishing Reck later on

Man the whole iso is scummy.

Let me know if I need to explain more.

See this is why I don't write motherfucking cases or try to explain my vote.

When I do, it brings the bandwagon to a grinding halt as people's biases and false references cloud their judgment and they hesitate.

When I say, look at the iso and find your own reasons to vote them, they try and try to find a reason, wind up seeing something new if not the exact thing I saw, and then they vote for the player I want.

There are a multitude of tells, and the one I use may not be the one someone else finds, but in the end, it doesn't matter as long as we win.

Vote VP Baltar guys. Let's go. We don't need 80 pages to end day 1.

none of these points really convince me, but this one seems especially bad, i don't get what's inconsistent about calling you null but also saying he doesn't like one specific thing you're doing

GC is correct that you're mischaracterizing yourself as "jabbing" me, when the order of events is as GC puts it:

1) I claim I don't read the first 25 pages of a game, ask who wants my vote, ask them to explain why I should vote there
2) You chime in and say that me and MT are wasting our votes on Blair
3) I vote you with more pazaz than my page 3 Blair vote
4) You say that I'm voting you to take a more aggressive stance against you because you called me out
5) You double down on this statement

If you want pointless ego, go find Reck. I'm here to win.

My first suspicions of Auro started here:

I doubt that the motivation is "form an initial cute impression, get classified as cute, and that will help me the rest of the game!".I townread her reaction: she seemed surprised at this being the major talking point, still recognized the perspectives of people attacking her while maintaining that it's not really relevant, and noted that this play could annoy some of the playerbase and apologized for it.
I'll call you out on your linking to a game that has nothing to do with your point
Auro 275is similar to VP Baltar 261. High effort posts to make town think lazy scum wouldn't bother to make and makes town feel bad about voting them.

The devil is in the details, and if you bother to actually drill into the links they make and context of the points they try to make, everything isn't as they would have you believe.

On page 22, I lay out the way I want to shape the game state.

It's easy to be reasonable. You don't have people like AGar up your ass. You appease everyone. People feel bad voting you out.

What I'm interested in, is what do you believe that no one else believes? If you stand alone, what do you stand for?

If I'm scum, the way I would look at this game is who do I have to lynch and NK to achieve my win condition?

Hard to lynch: Albert B. Rampage, Untrod Tripod, farside22, Llamarble, Hoopla, Reck, Morning Tweet, Auro, VP Baltar
Would have difficulty climbing out of pressure: Blair, Green Crayons, Porkens
Would self-destruct under pressure: iamausername, Kmd4390, Starbuck, AGar, CantLynchAPuppy

I can't be lynched day 1 if I'm invested, I'm too strong and aggressive; Reck has a similar playstyle. I look around, and there's other really tough lynches for scum.

MT, Farside, and Blair tend to obvtown over time and easily become unlynchable.

Scum basically have 3 strategies they can use:

1) Going for low hanging fruit. Short term gain, safe option.
2) Go for the middle-of-the-road players to keep the easy mislynches for deeper into the game when they really need it.
3) If they feel extremely confident in their position, they can tunnel on the hard to lynch players while town runs up townies, stay out of the action, and only join the mislynch deep into the game if they have to save a buddy or can take out a threat to them.

I will now explain my counter-strategies. I think that going for an easy mislynch today is a waste. This lines me up in parallel with scum's 2nd and 3rd strategies.

I need the usual ingredients to best cook for you my game-winning solve: pressure, vote consolidation, and danger of reaching an early lynch.

If we run up a few hard to lynch players and gain precious information, we can draw out enough connections to set us up for successful subsequent days.
Guard your honor. Let your reputation fall where it will. And outlive the bastards.

A bad scum player will try harder to save a good scum player. A good scum player may not help a lynchbait scum player. We need to start with the harder lynches in order to draw the bad scum players out who don't want to be alone and isolated where town will eventually get to them.

I want Auro and VP Baltar run up. I don't want to wait until page 40 for this to happen. Let's get some serious bandwagons going and win this guys.

In a game with only a couple hard to lynch players, optimal town strategy is to clean out the bad players first. In this game where half the players are skilled and tough to lynch, it's the opposite, you want to concentrate on the good players. Pressure the reasonable players, the ones who are attentive, active, who contribute. That's how we will win.

@MT @Starbuck choose VP Baltar or Auro. We need to work together and consolidate early.

Eventually the thread gets to 80 pages and nobody gives a fuck about analysis anymore and the entire town gets apathetic. To avoid that, let's bandwagon early, and hard. Join the pressure. Be the pressure.

I like your group. Scum inside makes sense. My strategy is to go after the harder lynches to draw out the players more afraid of losing the better scum players, so MT/UT are good potential future bandwagons but I don't want IAAU CLAP today.

I think that fight or flight response is to vote the counterwagon and ensure his survival if he's town. Auro looks like he's putting on a show. "I was gonna vote VPB but now that you told me to I won't. Mooooom!".

It's not strategic to vote easy to lynch players out in a game filled with hard ones, Auro. Even if we hit scum, the buddies would just take credit for the bus and swing the momentum back. We are better off getting information from the better players.

Kmd did you see my post directed at you and how your vote actually matters a lot right now? There are moments in the game where the momentum rests on the vote of a few players who are stalling a decision while the iron is hot. If you think Auro > VP Baltar, vote with it and let's get a claim now, nice and early, not at the fucking deadline when we need to scramble.

I hadn't. When I hit submit I didn't see there was a page 39. But yeah. Ignoring the fact that you think I self destruct under pressure despite some of the games on my Egg account, I see where you're coming from. The problem is I don't really want to vote and force a claim on someone I don't think is scum. I'd rather try to lynch scum.
Sometimes you gotta help others see things your way by forcing information out of town. That's the way gramps did it. It's only American.

You're not tired of mislynching me yet Blair?

In GeorgeBailey's game, after FL quickhammered, you could have sheeped me to lynch FL-scum. You chose instead to mislynch me. My play there and here is the same.

Porkens if I'm scum with VP Baltar, he's an easier lynch. If I'm not scum with VP Baltar, as scum it's not pro-scum to not put him at L-1, unless you think I was trying to quickhammer. Is that what you think?

I don't make sense to you, but you still need to find what my strategy is if I'm scum. Otherwise I am just playing to my illogical rampage moniker.

There's always that risk you take when putting players at L-1, otherwise the value of it is lost, ABR.

That's the failure of strong arming L-1s on "pro players". While I'm a fan of the strategy, don't force them: make it happen via rhetoric. More difficult, but a helluva lot more useful.
Then claim at L-2. This is a large. You should have fought harder to live first of all, second of all claim before L-1, third of all push harder and post more substance. You are better than this.

My best play comes out during the day. I had solid townreads on half the player list, would've correctly went for farside day 2 even though I always try to give her rope early game, and.. what else can I say. Damn I'm that good I surprise even myself.

The power of my playstyle is the fact that nobody here gives me credit for tunneling on not one, but TWO scum, from PAGE TWENTY TWO, in a large game, which is hard enough on its own, but to successfully get the entire player list on board with NOT ONE, BUT BOTH of the scum, means I am VASTLY, VASTLY underestimated by the scum (and delusional peeps like Reckoner) who continue to let me go on a massive rampage to win town games, almost without contest, is brilliant in and of itself.

I caught VPB on page 12, I caught auro on page 14, and I had the town choose between one and the other by page 22. Hoopla, Llama and others helped me seal the deal in one of the fastest day 1s I've played in the last year.

The setup wasn't town-sided, we just outplayed by far. Reck did well at the end and the Gamma track was excellent.

Without the laser accurate day 1 lynch, you remove the first domino that sets off every other event. This is the Ned Stark beheading that starts the entire ASOIAF saga. Without me, town is not in the position it finds itself in.

Thanks guys! I endeavor to please you, to make the town win, and to make Reckoner and the other non-believers appreciate my jaw-dropping, breathtaking strengths.

I'd like to hear Vi's thoughts on how killing the player with the most posts who hard carried Day 1, did more good for scum than their own lackluster pick!

At the end of the day you hammered scum, and that is praise-worthy in itself. Made for a more focused game.

List of the 3 greatest things to have happened this game:

1) Starbuck initiating a Porkens vs. Farside 1v1

This was a massive gambit, a fakeclaim really, that made this game a walk in the park for town. But it's so damn risky. It's like an 2008 ABR play: insightful, effective, and potentially blows up in your face and ruins the game once in a while. Incredible that this even happened. Farside was not on my radar at all until this claim, which is coincidentally exactly what it would have taken to lynch farside. Great timing. Not sure if completely ethical lol.

2) The track

Others touched on this. Bang on job. Single-handedly closed the game out.

3) Scum cross bussing Day 1

I feel like I created this scenario where scum were losing of two very good players. Events after Day 1 built on what I achieved, and although the least crazy curveball of the game, it set the tone and launched town odds of winning into the stratosphere. Bussing has unintended consequences. Mafia had really tough choices to make. I'm not over the fact that they didn't choose to NK me after I nailed two of them right off the bat.

I really don't have a firm case on anyone right now. ABR is being weird about Auro/VP, but I don't think weird is a valid tell for ABR. Starbuck still bothers me because I feel like she's peppered little barbs into her catch-up posts to try to reignite the 1v1 she claims was so terrible. I'm not really convinced Porkens' reaction to ABR was genuine townie outrage.

But if I had to day-vig someone and end the day right now? I'd probably go back to IAAU.

You had a strong showing in this game.
Thank you. It is difficult to give me a compliment, I know. This game puts me at a 70% win rate in 21 games in the last 4 years, excluding the serial killer game.

I win 70% of the time since 2016. This is an insane stat, helped by a lot of good partners, who I would like to take the time to thank as well as my parents and Mith for paying the server bills for this site.

Don't be that guy.
70% win rate since 2015 in 42 games, I stand corrected, thank you.

Even better than I thought. My record speaks for itself, but it feels good to bring it to people's attention when they go out of their way to discredit you.

That 70% is meaningful because it is earned with a lot of bullshit losses to haters who vote on interpersonal out of game personality conflicts. It would probably be around 80% if I used an alt for each game and wasn't notorious for a confrontational disposition.

And thanks to all of ya'll for getting the game together and playing/modding - I said earlier that this was one of the best playerlists I'd ever played with and I honestly don't know if I'll get the chance to play with this many great players in the same game again!
Agreed 100%. Only Vi could have assembled this many great players like Thanks brought together the infinity stones in Infinity War.

I haven't talked about my record in 10 years, the last time was when I went 7 for 7 and everyone memed about it. I was just updating the wiki today and 70% is a massive achievement for mafia. I'm like the Leonardo DiCaprio of mafia who comes out with hit after hit and never gets enough credit for an Oscar. It's not like I mentioned it before or tout it in every game. Maybe in my next MD article next week.

agree with gammagooey for mvp. even without nailing the last scumbag, he played great and was a beacon of towniness throughout the game.

his predecessor in llamarble also was a great town influence. i wonder what happened to him? vi?
Yep. Whem Llama and you supported my action against scum, I knew this game would be in safe hands. Wonder what happened to him too, he played a great game and nailed scum early.
