I don't wanna be too focused furtive, but I'm concerned with the level of fluff not going down at any point, I think it makes it easy for mafia and he is posting too much but nothing is game advancing content.

no I think town furtive would drop a read or two by that point. there's game advancing content all over. IDK I don't like it
I didn't find anything to comment on. There's also a difference between games of different sizes.

Thanks for calling me a favourite

I don't know - I had thoughts, my vote on Firebringer wasn't a joke, but it's not the strongest read either - just that I think he would enjoy posting like that more as scum than town. Whether or not I 'go hard' also can depend on my current mood and schedule as well

hi that's cute

I never played mafia IRL

did you rand scum rl? how does it feel to lie to people's faces?

also I'd like to have someone to bounce reads off of since I don't know much of the playerlist
I prefer being town, I think I'm better at reading people IRL than in person

I wasn't scum, no. It feels exciting and stressful to lie to people's faces. I don't like it as much as I used to

Hiya, been really looking forward to playing with you again! I don't think I ever told you this because you weren't around much while it was happening, but the way you played as town a few years ago hugely influenced the way I've been trying to play as town more recently. So, uh, thanks

I don't really have any scumreads atm. I think a few players seem pretty towny so far but I don't often have confident wolf reads early. Taly stands out to me as explicitly not looking very towny in a way that bothers me a bit, if that helps?

Klick dissonance between Taly scumread (which is bad) and rando Lycan vote, + wooden tone and lack of reads = wolf

I don't agree enough to move my vote. We'll see

This sums it up.

Townreads both Firebringer and furtive to the point of saying "they can do no wrong". So I'm like "hmm, that seems strong for pretty early."

I ask why, and Asri just says they don't have a reason.

It feels like if those two are town, it's a very safe position for scum to take, especially with fireb

Townreads both Firebringer and furtive to the point of saying "they can do no wrong". So I'm like "hmm, that seems strong for pretty early."

I ask why, and Asri just says they don't have a reason.

Here she becomes suspicious of Klick, right after FB put some pressure on him with a vote. Aristeia quickly cast a 2nd vote (with no reason?) and MT does a complete 180 from thinking FB is sus to agreeing with FB about Klick, casting the 3rd vote for him.
You're also no longer a good vote IMO x3
And I still don't know what this means, but if she's suggesting FB isn't a good vote because he already has 3, it would seem odd to jump to a 3rd vote on the Klick wagon. I could be misinterpreting this comment though

The quick change of heart from FB to Klick feels off and its the only minor scum read I've gotten so far

no. Also I'm not sure why you wrote the bolded tbh.
You either had scum reads and didn't include them, or didn't have any scum reads at all. Both options seem a little odd at this stage of the game and I wanted you to clarify.

I don't know your playstyle but I get a weird vibe like you're trying to play too safe. It's easy to not step on anyone's toes or make a target out of yourself when you're coasting through Day 1 giving only townreads

don't worry about your reads being 'good' if you're town, it's more about making your overall thought process visible to others so they can understand where you're coming from, i think that's what alisae was getting it

Sorry for massive quote, I'm on mobile. Petapan's progression on Black makes no sense. Calls him scummy, advises him as if he's town (with awkward phrase 'if you're town'), then towncases me for scumreading Black, again treating the slot as town.

In post 660, Aristeia wrote: i dont think petas treatment of black is even scum indicative

lets go thru the possible worlds:

peta/black s/s;

he would just coach black in the scum pt.

peta/black s/t;

he has no incentive to make black look townier, peta doesnt really do that to lhfs.
1. Coaching could happen no matter what happens in thread.

2. He hasn't been exclusively treating Black as town. My point is the treatment is inconsistent in a really dodgy way

i disliked that post however not enough to vote him for it and he's a new player to the site who is obviously experiencing a bit of awkwardness so i'm going to extend a basic level of courtesy and answer the question he asked about typical game flow

like where in your book do i, because i found a prior post by him suspect, have to not answer a totally harmless question he asked afterward?

i'm not treating black as town when i talk about your read on him, his alignment is basically irrelevant to what i am saying because it's relevant to you and your thought process and how you're approaching the game

i don't have a strong read on black
No, it is relevant. When considering what I would do as scum, you assumed Black would be town, not considering us both being Mafia. You said scum would be likely to let the slot be townread rather than push it. That treats the slot as town (without directly acknowledging it).

This one is not at all certain if it's voting soon. It wants to vote Baltar, but only because they were mean. Being mean doesn't mean they're traitorous yet, in this one's mind, but it would sure be nice if they are because they were mean!

This one doesn't suspect anyone else enough to vote them, now.

As far as I can see you've asked me one question about Alisae and Aristeia, which was buried in a bigger post.

Aristeia feels like how she played in Open 870, and Alisae just seems generally towny. I buy into eir worldview and how e approaches the game.

You can call Fire's case on Klick weak, but I agreed. If someone is pushing my big scumread, I'll usually treat them as town

And your other points are complete garbage

Could you elaborate on why Ari didn't make it into your top tier? What made her less town than the 4 above her? She shared your scumread of both Fire and Klick early on, and you just said yourself you tend to think people are really townie when they agree with your scumreads. You both mindmelded over Taly being town in #223 and #399. So what held you back from putting Ari in the top tier?

Speaking of #399. Why didn't you list Ari here as a townread? After all the above, you still didn't get a townread from her??? But we now know you did. Because you just recently admitted you did. So why exclude her from #399?

Klick is still my big one. Everyone is agreeing he's town and I can't see why.

petapan has become more of a complex read recently but I think the confidence on Baltar scumread was alarming

Black hasn't actually done much of what I consider pro-town play

redFF just feels quite surfacey

Unfortunately, I fell for that fallacy with Nero in a game when I was in a hood with him. He was just town tho. The whole hood was town iirc, and it was a huge shitshow distraction.
That's a different game. Outting a hood is not town 99% of the time, because what do you lose from outting it as Mafia? Nothing.

What?

I think i have multitude of things I look for.
I go first on trying to understand a player.
What is X mindset, what makes sense for X t odo here as one alignment versus other, etc.

r u just reaction defending and accusing me of low level analysis or what.
If u think any read of mine is undeveloped and bad tell me what they are.
I'm surprised and slightly bemused that you see actually pro-town things as just 'easy busy work' or whatever, and your townread on Alisae for instance is based on e being rude to you via emojis and something called 'grandson'

It feels like you're throwing out definitive town reads with little backing to buddy up to people

betting you're right on a player being town doesn't mean shit dude, mathematically you're more likely to be right than not - her being town make your logic good you just used bad process and got lucky

like how people think they're good at finding townreads but they're not, they're just succeeding at something they were mathematically favored to win

I don't know how i would imagine furtive scum game.
Do you think furtive personally as scum goes agaisnt consensus to build his own in the game or goes along with town consnesus that is building.

cause i can tell you i only know a handful of players that as scum will try to demolish an existing consensus to enforce their own. I am not even one of those. That takes a lot of effort skill and finesse I don't have.
You can read all of my scumgames (and towngames) by clicking on my wiki page (on my profile). I was called Mafia for recommending this before, by a very silly user.

here's the thing

Peta as scum is very good at reading game state, influence, and where things are going and equity values.

Peta as scum would not care if you as town correctly read Misty as town because he would know that you don't really have a lot of influence in this town, you would not be able to protect misty if she became a lim target.

Also he's not even pushing Misty or trying to push Misty.

Mafia care about one or two eliminations at a time. They don't have time or energy to fight every correct townread everywhere at once, that's just not feasible or even remotely a good idea.
Well, there are other motivations for critiquing my read than just keeping Mistyxx in the poe. Elevating his own slot, trying to make mine look worse, etc. Maybe it was just his genuine reaction as well

I think you're putting him on a bit of a weird pedestal and have a fixed idea of what he would and wouldn't do as scum

post reads
ok let me go through the playerlist and see where im at

fb - town
peta - not sure slight town read
sirecakez - scum
vp - i dunno lol
aristeia - town
alisae - still scummy but not gonna get lynched today so
taly - town
gimli - scum, has done nothing to alleviate my suspicions, i've scumread him since early and don't like any of his posting
furtiveglance - null-scum
klick - town
MT - i had a town read earlier, but probably should look back into it
lycan - ehhh
mistyx - this player is in this game? null i guess
black - town
redFF - MEGA NUMBER 1 TOWN
CSF - i think they've made some insightful posts and i was impressed they guessed the 3rd hood member, if there is scum in the hood i don't think scum csf correctly "guesses" the 3rd hood member like that. so if scum in the hood i think CSF is guaranteed to be town (unless klick ends up flipping scum, that would be an interesting associative if that happens as they couldve worked that back and forth out together)
asri teroka - annoying
This is either scum or town who isn't reading and won't be helpful. A priority elimination for sure

You can go up to null, as can CSF actually.
All 3 of the null tier move down.
From the townlean tier, Alisae and Aristeia can form the new null
Top tier remains, add in Mistyxx

I've had thoughts on this since last night but I went to sleep instead of responding.

Basically, I think my Cakez townread was poor. Early in Cakez's posting I thought his forwardness and willingness to bring a lot of opinions to the table was towny. I think this was biased somewhat by comparing him to Lycanfire in my head and thinking, 'well Cakez is being pretty free with his reads and Lycan isn't doing anything so if there's a scum between them it's more likely to be Lycan.' Which isn't a well-thought-out point.
In my last reads list I brought Cakez down a bit because I kinda realised this but still wanted to give credit to my initial gut ping.

I think ultimately I townread what you are scumreading. I ISO'd Cakez late last night and felt pretty similarly to you, that what he was doing could pretty easily be scum projecting false confidence. I don't feel strongly about it but with you saying it's his scum meta I kinda want to sheep you on it.

Lazy sure but scummy how? I whipped it up pretty fast by just looking at the playerlist and firing off
Because you had quite a lot of players listed as idk/eh, (and otherwise didn't say much about anyone), it made me think that 1) You are scum who therefore doesn't have real thoughts about other players, and 2) that you are avoiding giving reads on certain slots because they are your partners.

This is so weird to me. Red had 4 players listed as idk. That equates to "a lot" ? Like how do you look at red's list and come to this conclusion. Or did you really think his list was trash because he had you leaning scum?
Furtive what's up with this?
I ignored you because I thought your question was rhetorical, and still kind of do.

The list was bad, do you disagree? Maybe I exaggerated with 'a lot' but I didn't see a lot of thought behind it in general

I don't really understand the concept of 'interesting' - if there are 5 slots I want to flip I'll just choose my scumreads

I don't think so, and I think I've moved away from trying to see the game like that/teamsolve it this early. I know I sometimes feel like that later on in games, when there's fewer players.

3 left, and since VPB is gone and i dont a replacement to give me a good choice consider his slot vote gone and his replacement will just have to sheep us.

It all comes down to ARI, PETA AND CAKEZ for the final strikes.

Lets go
Shea if you catch up i will allow you to strike one of the remaining players in this list if Ari/Peta/Cakez don't beat you to it.

We are going to compromise wagon the last person left on this list.
I didn't agree to this
